Ajit Pawar Launches 300 Pune Model Schools and 108 Primary Health Centres, Initiative To Transform Rural Education And Healthcare in District
A major initiative to modernize education and healthcare services in Pune district was launched today by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Pune’s Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar. Under this initiative, the Pune Zilla Parishad will implement two flagship projects — “Pune Model School” and “Pune Model Primary Health Centre” — aimed at raising the standards of rural education and health infrastructure.
As part of the plan, 303 schools will be upgraded to “Pune Model Schools” and 108 primary health centres will be transformed into “Pune Model Primary Health Centres.”
Features of Pune Model Schools:
- Each school will be equipped with a STEM lab (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
- Digital classrooms with vocational education and foreign language training.
- State-of-the-art computer labs and libraries.
- Training in modern teaching methods for teachers and biometric attendance.
- Talented students will be taken on educational visits to NASA and ISRO in collaboration with ISRO and IUCAA.
Features of Pune Model Primary Health Centres:
- Upgrades will be carried out as per guidelines of the National Health Mission (NHM) and National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
- Enhancements to modular operation theatres, labour rooms, IPD wards, and pathology labs.
- Several centres to be powered by solar energy and equipped with modern treatment facilities.
During the launch event, the logo for Pune Model School, the “Pune Nipun Dashboard,” and an activity booklet for Anganwadi workers were also unveiled. A short film explaining the vision, objectives, and action plan of the initiative was showcased by the Pune Zilla Parishad.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar lauded the effort, stating, “The Pune Model will provide high-quality education and healthcare to the rural population and set a benchmark for the rest of Maharashtra.”
