Fresh details have emerged about the final moments before the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in Baramati. Eyewitnesses at the scene have described a terrifying sequence of events during the last 10 minutes before the crash, calling it an experience they will never forget.
According to preliminary information, the aircraft suffered a suspected technical malfunction while attempting to land. Sources said the pilot tried to bring the plane down safely, but control was lost during the landing approach, leading to the fatal accident.
“We Saw It With Our Own Eyes”
One eyewitness said the aircraft appeared unstable as it descended. “When the plane was coming down, it looked like it would crash—and it did. Moments later, there was a loud explosion,” the witness recalled. Within minutes, locals rushed toward the site, only to find the aircraft engulfed in flames.

The eyewitness added that four to five explosions were heard in quick succession after the initial impact. “The fire was massive. We tried to get closer to help, but it was impossible,” the witness said.
Rescue Attempts Foiled by Intense Fire
Locals and passersby reportedly attempted to rescue those on board, but the intensity of the fire and repeated blasts made it impossible to approach the wreckage. “People tried to pull passengers out, but the flames were too strong. We later realised Ajit Pawar himself was on the plane. It was devastating,” an eyewitness said.
Another account stated that the aircraft crashed from a height of nearly 100 feet while nearing the runway. “It seemed like the plane would land safely, but instead it went down just short of the runway,” the witness added.
