Amazon’s Fast Delivery Race Reaches Pune As 100-City Expansion Begins
Amazon has announced a major expansion of its quick-commerce service Amazon Now, bringing rapid deliveries to more cities including Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata.
Amazon is stepping up the battle in India’s booming instant delivery market. The company has confirmed that Amazon Now, its rapid delivery service for groceries and daily essentials, will expand to 100 cities across India, with Pune among the newly added markets.
The move places Pune directly in the centre of the growing quick-commerce race, where consumers increasingly expect essentials delivered within minutes instead of waiting hours or days.

Amazon said the expansion will be supported by more than 1,000 specialised delivery hubs, helping it serve both metro and non-metro cities faster. Customers can check service availability through the ‘Now’ icon on the Amazon app.
For Pune users, this could mean quicker access to groceries, fruits, vegetables, snacks, household goods and urgent daily-use items. The city’s growing IT workforce, dense residential zones and app-based shopping habits make it a key market for such services.
The company also said customers have responded positively to delivery speed, value and selection, especially fresh produce sourced directly from farmers. Amazon claims the network will help over 16,000 farmers connect with customers through sellers on the platform.
This aggressive rollout is backed by Amazon’s planned investment of over ₹2,800 crore to strengthen operations in India. The company is entering a fiercely competitive market already dominated by Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart and Flipkart Minutes.
India’s quick-commerce sector has grown rapidly, with thousands of dark stores already operating across major cities. Analysts say metro markets are becoming crowded, which is why companies are now pushing deeper into cities like Pune and other tier-1 and tier-2 markets.
For consumers, the expansion means more options, faster delivery promises and likely discount wars. For local kirana stores and competitors, it signals tougher competition in the race for convenience.
Pune has already become a testing ground for new retail trends, from premium groceries to 10-minute deliveries. Amazon’s entry at scale could further reshape how the city shops.
