As Pune prepares to say goodbye to Ganpati Bappa on the upcoming Anant Chaturdashi day, the Pune police have announced a series of traffic changes and road closures that will begin in phases starting at 7 AM on Tuesday. Additionally, heavy vehicles will be completely prohibited from entering the city on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Barricades will be set up on various connecting streets of major roads throughout the city. Officials from the Pune traffic police have indicated that several central roads are likely to face traffic congestion due to the influx of people celebrating Anant Chaturdashi.

Here are the details provided by the traffic police:

Road Closures In Pune: 

Shivaji Road and Laxmi Road will be closed starting at 7 AM on Tuesday. Then, Tilak Road, Bagade Road, and Guru Nanak Road will close to traffic from 9 AM. After that, Ganesh Road and Kelkar Road will shut down at 10 AM, and Bajirao Road, Shastri Road, and Kumthekar Road will be closed from noon.

Once it hits 4 PM, vehicles won’t be allowed on key roads like Jangli Maharaj Road, Karve Road, Fergusson College Road, Bhandarkar Road, Pune-Satara Road, Solapur Road, and Prabhat Road. These closures will last until the immersion processions wrap up on Wednesday.

Traffic Diversion In Pune On Main Roads: 

The traffic diversion points on key roads where vehicles will be redirected include Balgandharva Chowk on Jangli Maharaj Road, Good Luck Chowk on Fergusson College Road, Gadgil statue on Shivaji Road, Volga Square on Satara Road, Savarkar statue on Bajirao Road, and Nal Stop on Karve Road. 

Additionally, there will be a separate set of traffic changes in Dhayari Phata, Keshav Nagar-Mundhwa, and Sasane Nagar-Hadapsar.

Temporary Ring Road: 

A temporary ring road will be created for traffic by linking sections of Karve Road, Senapati Bapat Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Ambedkar Road, Nehru Road, Shivneri Road, Satara Road, Sinhagad Road, and Shastri Road.

The connecting lanes of the following main roads have been barricaded to prevent vehicle access to the main roads:

– Kumthekar Road from Shanipar Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk.

– Tilak Road from Jedhe Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk.

– Bajirao Road from Puram Chowk to Futka Buruj Chowk.

– Shivaji Road from Gadgil Statue to Jedhe Chowk.

– Laxmi Road from Sant Kabir Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk.

– Kelkar Road from Budhwar Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk.

– Shastri Road from Senadatt Chowky to Alka Talkies Chowk.

– Jangali Maharaj Road from Jhansichi Rani Chowk to Khandojibaba Chowk

– Karve Road from Nal Stop to Khandojibaba Chowk.

– Fergusson College Road from Khandojibaba Chowk to Goodluck Chowk.
