ATS arrests 28-year-old in terror funding case

Junaid Mohammad, 28, has been arrested from Dapodi area by the sleuths led by anti-terrorist squad, Pune on charges of funding a militant group in Kashmir.

Junaid has been under investigation by the anti-terrorism squad for the past eight days. Meanwhile, sources said that he was arrested by the squad from Dapodi area on Monday after his involvement in the case was found.

Junaid Mohammad was allegedly in touch with active members of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Toiba in Jammu and Kashmir. With their help, he was trying to recruit youths from different states into Lashkar-e-Toiba and trained them to be sent to Jammu and Kashmir to carry out terrorist activities, as per the police sources. It has been concluded that the money was deposited in his account from an account in Jammu and Kashmir for this work.

Speaking to Pune Pulse an ATS officer, on condition of anonymity, said, “We have recovered 10 different companies’ sim cards from Junaid. He had five different accounts on Facebook and other social media platforms. We are probing into it further now. ”
