Babil Khan Clarifies Viral Breakdown Video, Says He Was Praising, Not Criticising, Fellow Actors
Actor Babil Khan returned to Instagram on Sunday evening, issuing a heartfelt clarification after a video of his emotional breakdown went viral and sparked online speculation. In the video, Babil was seen visibly distressed while naming actors like Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and others—leading many to assume he was criticising them. However, the actor has now addressed the situation, stating that the clip was “extremely misinterpreted.”
Sharing an official statement on Instagram, Babil explained, “I was trying to show support to Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor, Raghav Juyal and Arijit Singh.” He emphasised that his words stemmed from admiration, not accusation. “I genuinely don’t have the energy to indulge more, but I do this as a responsibility for my peers that I truly admire,” he added.
The confusion began after Babil posted an emotional video in the early hours of Sunday, where he referred to Bollywood as “the most fakest industry” but also spoke of individuals striving to improve it. His comments, combined with his breakdown, led to online rumours that he had been mistreated or bullied by the actors he named.
Addressing this, Babil’s team released a statement clarifying that the video had been “taken out of context.” It said, “Babil was sincerely acknowledging a few of his peers whom he believes are making meaningful contributions to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema.” The statement added that Babil’s admiration for these artists came from their “authenticity, passion, and efforts to restore credibility and heart in the industry.”
Babil also reshared Raghav Juyal’s post supporting him, calling Raghav his “icon,” “idol,” and the “elder brother I never had.”
Known for being vocal about his mental health journey, Babil’s team reassured fans that he is safe and recovering. “Like anyone else, Babil is allowed to have difficult days, and this was one of them,” the statement read.
