Baner Balewadi Pashan residents request police patrolling to be increased

Balewadi: The residents of Balewadi are facing trouble as the cases of assault by drunk people are increasing in the area. In a recent incident, a 50-year-old resident was assaulted by two drunk people and they tried to damage his two wheeler. However, the residents are complaining that no immediate police action was taken in the case.

The victim, a resident of Balewadi, said, “While I was waiting in the parking lot and talking on the phone, a person hit my scooty from the back. To check what happened I turned back, the other person started to abuse and started shouting at me. They both were drunk. To avoid any altercation, I left the place.”

He continued, “These two people were following me and when I went inside the bank, they threw my scooter on the ground and then kicked it multiple times damaging it.”

The victim said that he contacted the helpline number, waited for 30 minutes for the police to arrive and then left.

Baner Balewadi Pashan Residents Association (BBPRA) after conducting a meeting has decided to submit the list of vulnerable spots to the police and are demanding to increase the patrolling in the areas to avoid such incidents.

The police inspector at Chaturshrungi police station, Ankush Chintaman said that the team will increase patrolling in the area and work on the issue. He also appealed to residents to file a complaint if such incidents happen.
