Thergaon: The Thergaon Social Foundation complained about the polluted water and dead fishes in Pavana river to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Environment Department through a letter. The Pavana river, which flows through Pimpri-Chinchwad has become polluted and the aquatic animals and fishes in the river are dying due to the polluted water, said the letter.

Thergaon Social Foundation members are demanding stricter action from PCMC to avoid such happening.

This scenario has been happening year-on-year and the foundation has been making representations to the environment department of the corporation and also to the Maharashtra pollution control board.
The foundation members have warned the authorities to take the action sooner, failing which they will have to face the wrath of all the environmentalist organizations in the city and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will be held fully responsible for the environmental damage.

Aniket Prabhu of Thergaon Social Foundation said, “After every six months, this issue is happening. Every time, PCMC takes water samples to check what is happening. But still no action is being taken. We are demanding that if CCTVs are installed in the area, maybe the reason behind water pollution and the reason behind fish dying may be known. After giving the letter, the Municipal Corporation has assured us of action,” said Prabhu.
