Bank Holiday Alert: Banks To Remain Closed For Four Days in This Week; Check State-Wise List
Customers are advised to check the RBI holiday calendar and plan branch visits in advance as state-wise closures begin from February 18.
If you are planning any important banking work next week, it is best to check the holiday schedule beforehand. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases the official bank holiday list in advance, mentioning the dates, states, and reasons for closures. Visiting a branch without prior information can lead to wasted time and inconvenience.
According to the updated holiday calendar, banks will remain closed for four days next week due to state-specific observances and the regular Sunday closure.
The first holiday falls on February 18, when banks will remain closed only in Sikkim on account of Losar, also known as the Tibetan New Year. Banking operations in the rest of the country will continue as usual.
The second closure will be on February 19, when banks in Maharashtra will remain shut in observance of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of the revered Maratha warrior and leader. Banks in other states will remain open.
On February 20, banks will be closed in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram due to Statehood Day, commemorating the formation of these states as part of the Indian Union. Branches in the rest of India will operate normally.
The fourth closure comes on February 22, which is a Sunday, and banks across the country will remain closed as per the regular weekly schedule.
Despite branch closures, customers will still be able to access most essential services through digital channels. Online banking, mobile banking apps, UPI transactions, and ATM cash withdrawals are expected to remain functional unless disrupted by technical issues.
Customers are therefore advised to complete urgent banking work before these holidays or rely on digital banking options during the closure period.
