The Bengalee Association, Pune (BAP) is all set to celebrate the most awaited festival of the year, Durga Puja, from October 9th to 13th, 2024. This five-day extravaganza promises to be a grand affair, blending tradition, culture, and sustainability.

The countdown to Durga Puja begins with Mahalaya on October 2, marking the beginning of Devi Paksha. It is believed that, Goddess Durga descends on earth with her children Ganesha, Kartik, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. The five days of Durga Puja celebrations hold immense significance, starting with Sashti, marking the arrival of Goddess Durga, followed by Saptami, Ashtami, Navami, and culminating with Vijayadashami.

Established in 1981, BAP aims to promote national integration through harmonious social, cultural, and religious ideas. The association has grown steadily, celebrating all Bengali festivals with devotion and gaiety. This year’s celebrations focus on environmental sustainability and recycling.

The highlights of the 2024 celebrations include a “Towards a Zero Waste” Pandal, promoting eco-friendliness, and a recycling partnership with Mobitrash. Additionally, BAP will serve packed Bhog to underprivileged communities through Antarnad Social Foundation. The association’s online Bhog delivery service, partnering with Xirify, will cater to senior citizens and those unable to attend.

The cultural extravaganza will feature instrumental recitals and songs from Bengali and Hindi composers, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bengal. Dance and music are essential parts of Bengali culture, reflecting the community’s vibrant spirit.

The Durga Puja celebrations will take place at Mauli Garden, Baner, from October 9th to 13th, 2024. The Bengalee Association, Pune invites all to join in the festivities and be a part of this magnificent celebration.
