Bengalee Association Pune’s 44th Durga Puja at Baner to Feature Ujjaini Mukherjee & Taposh Mukherjee’s Musical Extravaganza
Pune, October 7, 2024 – The Bengalee Association Pune (BAP) is gearing up to celebrate its 44th Durga Puja in style, offering a vibrant lineup of cultural programs that pay homage to the rich heritage of Bengali arts. This year’s event will be held at Mauli Garden, Baner, and promises a blend of dance, music, and drama that reflects the essence of Bengal’s cultural traditions.
The festivities will kick off with an evening performance by renowned singer Ujjaini Mukherjee on October 10th, Saptami. Mukherjee, a celebrated artist from Kolkata, has won the hearts of music lovers across India with her versatile voice and unique singing style. Her live performance is anticipated to be one of the highlights of this year’s celebrations.
Following Mukherjee’s performance, the audience will be treated to a grand musical evening on October 11th, Asthami, with Taposh Mukherjee and his “Band Harmony.” Mukherjee, an accomplished musician known for his work with legendary Bollywood composers Kalyanji-Anandji and Bappi Lahiri, will bring his signature guitar skills to the stage. With a 70-piece ensemble, the performance is expected to be a spectacular musical experience that showcases Mukherjee’s extensive repertoire.
Adding to the traditional flavors of the event, folk artist Jayanta Das will perform on Asthami afternoon. Hailing from Shantiniketan, Das is a master of Baul music, a form of Bengali folk that captures the spirituality and vibrancy of rural Bengal. His performance will offer a deep, soulful journey into the roots of Bengali culture.
On Nabami evening, BAP will present two thought-provoking dramas, “Aajker Durga” and “Jaago Ma Jaago”, which reflect recent social unrest in West Bengal. These dramatized representations aim to evoke a sense of solidarity and empathy among audiences, reminding them of the resilience and spirit of Durga.
