Pune: The Pune City traffic police have cautioned the citizens about fake website links circulating on the internet platforms, which cybercriminals are using to deceive the people who are trying to pay the traffic violation dues online through the portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways called ‘eChallan Parivahan.’

As per a press release by Pune Traffic Police, the facility of traffic fine payment dues is available online through the prescribed link https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/

However, unauthorized fake links like https://echallanparivahan.in/ are being circulated among citizens to pay the pending fine amount on vehicles.

Hence, the citizens are requested not to use any illegal website other than the official website https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/ to pay the pending challan penalty amount on their vehicles, otherwise, it will lead to fraud.

Since August 28, the traffic police have opened a helpdesk at Pune Traffic Police headquarters in Yerawada to help people who have violated traffic rules pay the challan against them at lesser compounding charges. A Lok Adalat will also be held on September 9 to decide the cases of traffic violations that are still pending.

According to traffic police, people are using the official link of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to clear traffic fine dues. However, several fake links look very similar to the official link.

Thus, people are being asked to check the authenticity of these links before making any payments.
