Tushar Pawar detained at Mumbai Airport for tampering with his passport to conceal his travel history

A passenger, Tushar Pawar, was detained at Mumbai International Airport for tampering with his passport to conceal trips to Thailand. Pawar, who runs a logistics business is facing charges for cheating and violating the Indian Passport Act. The investigation is ongoing.

The incident occurred on Thursday when immigration officials discovered that Pawar had tampered with 12 pages of his passport to hide his previous travel records to Bangkok and Thailand.

Sahar police arrested Pawar, 33, who admitted to committing the offence to avoid a confrontation with his wife, who was unaware of his three earlier trips to Thailand in 2023 and 2024. He supposedly glued those pages to hide his trips with his friends.

Pawar, a graduate who operates a logistics business and lives with his family in Satara, is currently in judicial custody. “Pawar was travelling with his client on an official trip to Thailand when he was detained,” said an officer from the Sahar police station.
