Nitish Tiwari’s upcoming movie Ramayan is the one starring all the big celebs of the B-Town. With every passing day, the cast of the movie is getting bigger and bigger. It already has Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha.

With regular star cast updates, the movie is making it to the headlines. Now it is being reported that veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has been offered the role of King Dasharath. Yet Amit Ji playing Ranbir’s father in the 350-crore-budget movie has not been officially announced.

This is not the first time that Amitabh Bachchan has been offered a mythological role. Many years ago, Sanjay Khan was planning to make a film called ‘The Legend of Rama’ with his then-son-in-law Hrithik Roshan as Ram and his son Zayed Khan as Laxman. Back then, Big B was approached to play King Dashrath, but the film fell through.

This is not the first movie starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor together. In 2022, the two shared the screen in Ayan Mukherji’s Brahmastra.

Filming for Ramayan, starring Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor, starts in March 2024. With Yash joining the cast in July, Sunny Deol is scheduled to start filming his part in May. After Yash’s scenes are finished, the team plans to wrap up the Ramayana shoot with a Diwali 2025 release in mind. A few months ago, it was revealed that Ranbir would be travelling to Los Angeles to participate in the pre-visualisation of the film with the VFX studio, which had been engaged to work on the same project. The film is scheduled to be a three-part series.
