Pune: The state government has excluded the villages of Fursungi and Uruli Deva from the Pune Municipal Corporation and has ordered a new Municipal Council for these villages.

BJP Vice President of Pune district, Rahul Shewale requested to include the newly-added villages and few other villages in the new Municipal Council in a written appeal to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In October 2017, eleven villages and in June 2021 twenty three villages were included in Pune Municipal Corporation. Municipal Corporation has completely failed to provide civic facilities to the newly-included villages, the letter stated.

The letter further said, ” Crores of rupees have been collected from these villages as extra taxes. Due to this, the people of this village have expressed displeasure and dissatisfaction. A new Municipal Council of thirty-four villages included in the Pune Municipal Corporation and the villages of Hadapsar, Mohammadwadi, Kharadi, Vadgaon Sheri Khadakwasla, Sinhagad Road and some villages of East Haveli should be made, which will reduce the pressure on PMC and villages may get planned development.”
