Residents are seeking relief from PMC and Pune Police

The residents are already facing various issues including encroachments, traffic congestion, parking issues and this has become an added problem.

Over 200 residents from Vadgaonsheri and also Kalyani Nagar are in great trouble due to the blaring sound emanating from the eateries.

The rooftop eateries are located around the IT park, residential and commercial establishments. The residents are already facing various issues including encroachments, traffic congestion, parking issues and this has become an added problem. The rooftop restaurants as well as the open air party lawns often flout the norms set by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board regarding noise.

Giving details about the problems faced, a resident of Vadgaonsheri said that there are a few specific rooftop restaurants and pubs which often make loud noise and disturb the peace of the local residents living nearby. He said, “Some of the rooftop bars are located in Yerwada and others are in Mundhwa police station jurisdiction.”

When Pune Pulse spoke to Balkrishna Kadam, police inspector from Yerwada police station he said that the eateries and pubs causing nuisance have been alerted about the noise pollution causing trouble to the residents. If they still continue strict action shall be taken.

Another resident of Vadgaon Sheri informed that a couple of eateries have already modified their music system structure. “We are fortunate that the Mundhwa police station has been very proactive and has taken prompt action after we lodged a complaint. We are expecting similar action by Yerwada police, ” he said.
