Bomb Threats Target Mumbai Airport and Taj Hotel Citing 'Unfair' Executions, Police Launch Investigation
Mumbai was on high alert on Saturday after bomb threats were sent via email targeting two of the city’s most prominent locations — Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. The email, received on the official email address of the Mumbai Airport Police, triggered a swift and coordinated response from security agencies.
According to officials, the threatening message referred to the executions of Afzal Guru and Saibabu Shankar (also known as Saivakkun Shankar), claiming they were put to death under unjust circumstances. The sender cited this as motivation for potential attacks on the airport and the hotel, stating that retaliation was imminent.

In response to the threat, Mumbai Police immediately launched an investigation and deployed teams to thoroughly search both the airport and hotel premises. So far, no suspicious items or activities have been uncovered. Nonetheless, authorities have ramped up security across both sites and at other critical infrastructure points around the city as a precaution.
Efforts are underway to trace the email’s origin and identify those responsible for issuing the threat. The situation remains under close watch, with heightened vigilance maintained by both police and other security agencies.
