Breaking News: Arvind Kejriwal Arrested
Delhi High Court denied relief to Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday morning. He had approached the High Court with the intention of obtaining interim bail. Earlier, the trial court had also denied him relief. In the evening, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) reached Delhi CM’s residence. At around 9 pm, they arrested CM Kejriwal.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday night after a prolonged investigation into money laundering cases related to the Delhi liquor scam. Prior to this, the ED had confiscated Kejriwal’s mobile phone, and after questioning, he was arrested. According to ED sources, Kejriwal was not cooperating with the interrogation.
Amidst the apprehension of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, a large number of Aam Aadmi Party workers protested outside his house. Ministers Atishi and Saurabh were also present there. Due to the seriousness of the matter, a large number of police forces were deployed at the scene.
The Delhi Police also imposed Section 144 outside the CM’s house and deployed a significant number of police personnel. Additionally, the Rapid Action Force was deployed outside Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. AAP workers protesting outside are being taken away in police buses.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had refused to halt the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with money laundering related to the liquor scam. Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Manoj Jain’s bench listed AAP leader Kejriwal’s plea for further consideration on April 22. The bench stated, “We have heard both sides, and we are not inclined to grant protection at this stage. The respondent is free to file a reply.” The application for interim relief is part of Kejriwal’s plea challenging the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning. Kejriwal had approached the court against the ninth summons issued by the ED. He was asked to appear before the court on Thursday.
AAP leader Atishi stated, “We have received news that ED has arrested Arvind Kejriwal… We have always said that Arvind Kejriwal will run the govt from jail. He will remain the CM of Delhi. We have filed a case in the Supreme Court. Our lawyers are reaching SC. We will demand SC have an urgent hearing tonight.”
