Breaking News: Blast in Central Kolkata Leaves One Injured, Investigation Ongoing
A blast in central Kolkata injured a ragpicker near the intersection of Blochmann Street and S.N. Banerjee Road on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:45 PM, prompting an immediate response from the Taltala Police Station.
The injured individual, identified as Bapi Das, was rushed to NRS Medical College and Hospital for treatment. A plastic gunny bag was discovered at the blast site, raising concerns about potential explosives.
Kolkata Police swiftly cordoned off the area and called in the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) to inspect the scene. After a thorough search of the bag and surrounding area, the BDDS declared it safe, allowing traffic to resume.
The police have confirmed that investigations into the cause of the explosion are ongoing.
