In July, major telecom companies Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea announced a 20-25% hike in the prices of their prepaid and postpaid recharge plans. This significant increase in recharge costs has left users disappointed, as their expenses have substantially risen.

BSNL Takes Advantage of the Situation

Amidst this scenario, BSNL ramped up its promotional activities, aiming to attract customers with its more affordable recharge plans. This strategy proved effective, resulting in millions of new customers joining BSNL within just a month. Recognizing this trend among Indian telecom customers, BSNL has accelerated efforts to improve its services nationwide and attract even more customers.

India’s state-owned telecom company is working towards providing superfast connectivity at lower prices by installing 4G towers across the country. In line with this goal, BSNL has set up 4G towers at over 15,000 mobile sites in India. The company shared this development through a post on X(formerly Twitter) handle, stating that these installations were part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat program. Additionally, BSNL has started testing its 5G services, aiming to compete with private telecom companies through these proactive measures.

The Union Communications Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, recently shared a video on his X account in which he is seen video calling on the 5G-enabled BSNL network. In this year’s budget, the government announced plans to allocate 82,000 crore rupees to revive BSNL, further strengthening the company’s efforts to enhance its infrastructure and service offerings.

It is noteworthy that in July, Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea increased their prepaid and postpaid plan prices by 20-25%, leading to significant disappointment among users due to the surge in their recharge expenses.
