On Saturday, a collision occurred between a bulldozer and the Varanasi-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express (Train No. 12168) in Varanasi, en route to Mumbai, causing widespread chaos. The incident, which took place near Neembur village in the Chandauli district, had a significant impact on train traffic along the Varanasi railway line.

Authorities reported that the collision happened close to the Vyasnagar station in Varanasi Division, where a bulldozer attempting to cross the railway tracks was struck by the express train. The train dragged the bulldozer for approximately 500 meters before coming to a stop. The locomotive suffered a minor crack, and the bulldozer’s driver sustained injuries.

During the nearly two-hour standstill of the train, bystanders gathered on both sides. Fortunately, no passengers on the train reported any injuries.

Lalji Chaudhary, ADRM Varanasi, attributed the crash to the bulldozer making an unauthorized crossing. Despite the impact, both passengers and goods remained unharmed. A committee has been formed to investigate the incident.

Train operations on the affected rail route were disrupted for nearly four hours. Railway officials arrived at the scene and arranged for another bulldozer to clear the damaged machine from the track. Officials stated that train operations are gradually returning to normalcy after the damaged railway track has been restored.

A passenger on the train shared their experience, mentioning the sudden stop 30 minutes after departing Varanasi Central. The passenger described feeling a jolt, causing their daughter to collapse. Observing villagers stopping the train on both sides, the passenger disembarked and witnessed a significant bulldozer adjacent to the train, having crossed the railway tracks without clearance and broken into two parts.
