Caregivers Turn Thieves In Pune: Kondhwa Police File Case Of Theft, Gold Ornaments Worth ₹4.42 Lakh Stolen From NIBM Road Society
A shocking case of betrayal has come to light in Kondhwa, Pune, where two women hired as caregivers allegedly stole gold ornaments worth ₹4.42 lakh from their employer’s residence. According to Kondhwa Police, a 51-year-old resident of Kondhwa filed a complaint stating that the two women, employed by Vision Health Care, were hired to care for his ailing mother.
The caregivers were entrusted to work 24 hours a day at the plaintiff’s home between August 10 and 20, 2024. However, they allegedly abused this trust and stole gold ornaments from the iron cupboard at the residence of a NIBM Road Resident house.
Kondhwa Police have registered a case under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the woman, but no arrests have been made yet. “The investigation is ongoing, and we are verifying the facts,” said a police official.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of elderly citizens and the importance of thorough background checks for caregivers. It also raises concerns about the accountability of healthcare agencies and their hiring practices.
The case serves as a reminder for families to exercise caution when hiring caregivers and to ensure proper supervision and monitoring. As the investigation unfolds, the police will likely examine the circumstances surrounding the theft and the women’s involvement.
