Pune: Thieves broke into a car accessories shop on Bajirao Road and stole cash amounting to ₹13.8 lakh. The incident occurred at Durga Car Decor, located near Puram Chowk. The miscreants forcibly opened the iron shutter and gained entry into the shop, where the owner had stored the cash in a compartment.
The shop owner, Amit Jayprakash Tandale (42), a resident of Sadashiv Peth, filed a complaint at Khadak Police Station. According to the police, the thieves targeted the shop when it was closed and escaped with the cash. Tandale, who has been running the car accessories business alongside his old car dealership, was shocked to discover the theft.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan and Crime Branch Inspector Sharmila Sutar visited the scene. CCTV footage from the shop is being examined to identify the culprits, and Police Sub-Inspector Pralhad Dongale is leading the investigation.
In a separate incident, thieves broke into a saree showroom in the Kapadganj area of Raviwar Peth. They stole ₹1.68 lakh in cash and a laptop, with the total stolen goods valued at ₹1.83 lakh. The showroom owner, Govind Rajaram Mundada (65) of Gangadham, Market Yard, reported the incident to the Faraskhana Police Station. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
