Caught on CCTV: Brutal Hit-and-Run at Maharashtra Toll Booth, Worker Fighting for Life

Chandrapur: In a shocking incident caught on CCTV, a toll booth employee was critically injured after being run over by a mini truck at the Visapur Toll Post in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district. The driver, attempting to skip the toll fee, ran over the staffer and fled the scene. A case of attempt to murder has been registered, and the accused is currently absconding.

The incident took place around 1 AM when a Tata Ace vehicle, travelling from Ballarshah to Chandrapur, attempted to bypass the toll lane without paying. When the toll operator intervened, the driver accelerated the vehicle, ramming into him and causing serious injuries.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Sanjay Arun Wandhare, was employed as a computer operator at the toll post. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a private hospital. He is currently in the ICU and may be shifted to Nagpur for advanced treatment.

Toll booth manager Dilip Kancharlawar confirmed the gravity of the incident, stating that an attempt to murder complaint has been filed at Ballarpur police station.

Ballarpur Station House Officer Shyam Gawhane said, “The FIR is being registered. The vehicle number has been traced, and the arrest of the accused is expected soon.”

Authorities are examining CCTV footage and pursuing the suspect as part of an ongoing investigation.
