CBI uncovers fake call centers in Pune and other cities; 5 arrested
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted illegal fake call centers in multiple cities, including Pune, leading to the arrest of five suspects. This operation uncovered a racket that defrauded citizens from the US and other nations.
The arrested individuals are identified as Rohit Banjara, Jitendra Rawal, Harsh Patel, Aditya Patel, and Vanraj Sahil were apprehended from Hyderabad. The CBI has initiated a case and presented the suspects in a Pune court. Reports indicate that raids were conducted in Hyderabad, Varanasi, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, and Pune. During these operations, officials confiscated 50 mobile phones, 38 computers, and various documents from the fake call centers.
The call centers were operating under the names MSVC Informatics Pvt Ltd, Atria Global Services Pvt Ltd, and Viages Solutions. It has been discovered that the suspects used remote access software to deceive foreign nationals online. They managed to scam two foreign nationals out of $20,000 by convincing them to purchase international gift cards.
