CCTV to keep a vigil in PCMC areas

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s CCTV surveillance systems project in the city areas is all set to become a landmark project in terms of making the city safe and secured. An initial meeting with the M/s Matrix Security and Surveillance Private Limited was held recently by PCMC, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. A decision was taken on methods of implementation of the project with various concerned departments. 

The meeting was attended by additional commissioner, PCMC< Jeetendra Wagh, city engineer Sandesh Chavan, chief information officer and technical officer Neelkanth Poman, Thomas Noronha, communication department, electrical department executive officer Nitin Deshmukh, Manik Chavan, Sanjay Khabde, Praveen Ghode, Babasaheb Galbale, Shashikant More, Dilip Dhumal, Matrix Security and Surveillance Pvt Limited’s N Sandeep Raju, director J David and other officials.

Rajesh Patil, commissioner, PCMC said, “The work should be completed before Diwali this year. It is expected that rules and regulations are followed strictly while the work is going on.”

Thomas Noronha, executive engineer, telecom department, PCMC briefed about the project and its importance for the city. He said, “This project shall be a milestone as it intends to ensure safety and security of the citizens. This is one of the first CCTV surveillance systems which will provide advanced security. PCMC is the first municipal corporation across the country to have such an advanced security system. Till date, there are 4,490 CCTV systems which are presently active. Under the 2021-22 budget, over 200 crores have been approved for this project. A separate committee from the central government has been created to look after the project. This committee consists of Rajesh Patil, commissioner, PCMC, Krishna Prakash, Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Police, Additional Commissioner PCMC Jeetendra Wagh, Sandesh Chavan, executive engineer Thomas Noronha, Deputy Commissioner of Police Manchak Ippar, Anand Bhoite, assistant commissioner of Police, BSNL’s chief manager Dr Hemant Sonawane, manager Shashank Bhalerao, Sunil bhosale, Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City chief accounts officer, Pune Engineering College’s Dr Suhdir Agashe and assistant commissioner of Police Nandkishor Patil.

Senior citizens, Police and citizens representative had putforth demand to install CCTV surveillance systems. A survey was conducted at these spots by Police officials, PCMC engineers and locations have been identified, said Thomas Noronha.
