Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Orders Intensive Clean-Up Operation in Flood-Affected Pune Areas
Mumbai, 26 July: Due to the heavy rainfall in Pune yesterday, areas like Sinhagad Road, Patil Estate near Sanchayani Bridge, Ekta Nagar, and Phulpachi Wadi experienced severe flooding, resulting in mud and debris infiltrating homes. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the district administration to undertake an intensive cleanup operation with the help of the municipal corporation and private cleaning companies. He has also instructed immediate assessment of damage to homes and agriculture due to the floods.
In the flood-affected areas such as Sinhagad Road, Patil Estate near Sanchayani Bridge, Ekta Nagar, and Phulpachi Wadi in Pune, the health of residents is at risk due to the infiltration of mud into homes. Chief Minister Shinde has taken prompt action and directed the district administration to launch a deep clean operation.
To assist in the cleanup of the mud caused by floodwaters, the Chief Minister has also instructed the involvement of private cleaning companies, Sumit Enterprises and BVG. Responding to the Chief Minister’s appeal, Sumit Enterprises will provide 500 cleaning staff, while BVG will supply 100 cleaning staff to aid in the removal of mud from homes.
To prevent the spread of diseases caused by floodwaters and mud, the Chief Minister has also directed the municipal administration to conduct medicinal spraying in the affected areas.
