In the past few weeks, citizens of Moshi, have been complaining of miscreants conducting fake surveys for the state government run program, My Family My Responsibility. As there have been certain cases of asking bank details, adhar card and other personal information from the residents by the miscreants. Some have also gone to the extent by asking them to transfer money in their account to verify.

Several such harassed citizens approached Pune Pulse.
As the state government is stressing on the ‘My family, My responsibility’ survey, citizens have expressed their concerns over lack of clarity on the surveyors and the questions asked.
‘My family, my responsibility’ survey has become a nuisance for the locals due to its lack of clarity on security and identity of the surveyors. The citizens have also questioned the state government and the PCMC for not giving proper information on the conduction of the survey.

Kapil More, a PCMC based citizen and also the spokesperson of AAP PCMC Wing, while reaching out to the Pune Pulse, said, “There is no proper information of the survey and the surveyors. Many citizens have been questioning on how to verify the surveyors to which neither the state government nor the civic authorities have clarified.”

Considering the growing crime incidenta amid the lockdown in the city, it is obvious that this survey, too, can be used by the scammers for making people fool, especially the senior citizens who are less inclined towards digitalization and the bank details.

On reaching out to one of the senior citizens of Moshi, Ram Hari Borhade, he expressed his displeasure over the way of carrying out survey, but backed the survey, as the need of the hour. He said, “Look, the main problem is that in our area I have been hearing cases where the surveyors are asking bank details so that the government can send them money for treatment and precaution purpose. Few of the scammers have also asked many households to send them a certain amount, as a part of family’s contribution to getting the vaccine. This all is on the rise since the survey started, but it was happening way before, too.”

Pune Pulse when reached out to the Commissioner of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Shravan Hardikar, he informed “I request all the citizens to stay alert. PCMC authorities, or the surveyors are only supposed to ask the medical related information. No information related to bank of financial aspect should be given to the surveyors.”
Upon questioning him regarding the questions asked in the survey, he said, “The authorities and the surveyors, along with screening, will ask questions only about number of family members, any health emergency or high-risk member in the family.’

Pooja More, one of the residents of the Sant Tukaram Nagar area, while backing the survey but questioning the spread of virus, asked, “If these surveyors are going to visit every household without PPE wearing PPE kit, then they may actually be responsible for the spread of virus, in return. I support this survey, but the PCMC must execute it with proper and careful planning.
“I am sure that fraud acts will be on rise, but I can suggest that the corporation must notify the societies in advance so that we shall have the prior data of the surveyors, which will in return minimise the chances of scammers to get in.”
