Cloud 9 Half Road Opens to Public, Bringing Joy to NIBM Road Residents

The much awaited NIBM – Cloud 9 road is now open for public. The two months of hardships faced by the residents of the area will reduce when the road is accessible for people living in the area. Though, the road is half complete, people are hoping are this will drastically bring down the discomfort caused while driving on NIBM – Undri road as most of the vehicles will now opt for Cloud 9 road to commute. The road will be opened full fledged tomorrow morning, the motorists are advised to drive carefully.

A short inauguration programme was held today evening with presence of Chetan Tupe, MLA Hadapsar constituency, Prashant Jagtap, president, Pune city, Nationalist Congress Party and organised by Nanda Lonkar, former corporator, NIBM Mohamadwadi.

Chetan Tupe, MLA Hadapsar constituency said, “This road is connecting link from Kondhwa to Mohamadwadi and Undri and has become an integral part of the area. Reducing the height of the road was much needed to curb accidents and also to provide safe and accessible roads to the residents. Nanda Lonkar has achieved an unimaginable task.”

Prashant Jagtap, president, Pune city, Nationalist Congress Party informed that this road will boost the connectivity in the area. Major problems faced by the residents are on the verge of getting over.

Tara Singh, president, Anandvan Parisar Residents Forum stated that it was our consistent effort and follow up with PMC that the road is reconstructed. The gradient is reduced now and we have smooth ride on the road.

A resident of Sunshree Kangan, Lalitha Balakrishnan said, “Its an incredible task achieved. We are happy that the road outside our society is now safe to ride.”

Nanda Lonkar, former corporator of NIBM road said, “It’s been a ten years that the efforts were on to reconstruct the road as it caused various accidents. The road is not complete. Still the walls, streetlights, road dividers, footpath are yet to made. So, I appeal to all of you to drive safely on this road. We have opened this road only to provide some solace from the traffic caused on NIBM – Undri road and keeping in mind that schools have begun. The other side of the road shall be completed soon.”

Sanjay Singh, joint secretary, Supreme Greenwoods said, “I have been living here since 2008 and have seen the condition of the road going from bad to worst. The newly made is a blessing for all of us. We are hoping that residents use the road safely, drive carefully as the other half side of the road is yet to be complete.”

A resident of Undri, Abhijeet Deshpande, secretary, Nyati Esteban society stated that this road is shortcut to reach Undri. Earlier, the condition of the road was pathetic and posed great risk. Now, with the reduced gradient, it is more safe and motorable. I am hoping that PMC completes the rod by putting up street lights, dividers, builds the compound wall so that the hillside area remains protected.”
