Coldplay India: Tickets worth Rs.4000 resold for lakhs; BookMyShow reacts
Three Coldplay concerts in Mumbai were announced, and tickets sold out within hours. As fans grapple with their disappointment, a resale platform is already flooded with listings from those looking to sell their tickets.
While Coldplay tickets vanished quickly, some sellers are now offering them at exorbitant prices on a scalping site. The band is scheduled to perform in India in 2024 as part of their world tour, and fans are eagerly anticipating an unforgettable experience filled with their signature sound and stunning stage visuals.
Tickets that initially cost 4,000 Rs are now being listed for as much as 7.7 lakhs on a scalping website, raising concerns since ticket scalping remains illegal in India.
Coldplay will perform in Mumbai on January 18, January 19, and January 21, 2025.
BookMyShow has issued a statement addressing the issue of these scalping websites.
“It has come to our attention that unauthorized platforms are listing tickets for Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India, both before and after the official sale. These tickets are invalid. Ticket scalping is illegal in India and punishable by law. Please don’t fall prey to this because you will be buying fake tickets. Avoid scams! BookMyShow is the only official platform for ticket sales. We implemented a queueing system to manage the overwhelming demand and addressed issues caused by suspicious and malicious traffic within minutes, causing a brief delay, but ensuring minimal disruption for genuine fans. Due to the unprecedented demand, a third Mumbai show was added shortly thereafter, which also received a fantastic response.”
Die-hard Coldplay fans can still hold onto hope, as Bookmyshow has previously announced the sale of Infinity Tickets for November this year.
According to the platform, each buyer can purchase a maximum of two tickets, which must be bought in pairs and will be next to each other. The exact seating arrangements will be revealed when fans pick up their tickets at the box office on the event day.
Coldplay, formed in 1996, is a British rock band known for their melodic tunes and emotional lyrics.
