Container Topples on Pune Mumbai Expressway : 3 persons sustain minor injuries

A huge container toppled on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway this evening, causing traffic chaos and a complete traffic standstill on the Pune bound lanes of the expressway today evening for an hour.

The accident took place at 16:55 today on the Pune Mumbai Expressway at 39:00 kms as per information received from Afcon Office. “The container trailer number MH 46 AR 2324 was travelling from Chennai to Nhava Sheva via Pune Mumbai Expressway when the driver Vikas Shriram Kumar, from Pratapgad, Uttar Pradesh lost control over his vehicle and collided on the median and overturned on the Mumbai Lane . the Truck driver and two others sustained minor injuries in the accident. They were given medical assistance in IRB Ambulance. The container was removed from the spot by IRB hydra and puller. All the three lanes on both the sides of the road were cleared for traffic,” informed Anil Shinde, Police sub inspector, Highway Police, Borghat.

Merely days ago, another large container had toppled inside Khandala Tunnel, choking all traffic on Mumbai bound lanes of the expressway. In yet another accident a severe collision involving two trucks on the Mumbai Pune Expressway near Borghat Police Station had resulted in one fatality and several injuries. A glass truck, one of the vehicles involved, toppled, scattering shards of glass across the expressway.
