Thane, 21 December : JN-1, a new variant of Corona, has been detected in the country and the state. Against this backdrop, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held a meeting with the health department officials the Collector today. Structural, electrical and fire audits should be conducted in health institutions across the state. At the same time, the system of isolation and oxygen beds should be kept ready in the hospitals. Citizens should follow Corona preventive instructions, Chief Minister Shinde said.

Health Minister Dr. Tanaji Sawant, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Bhushan Gagrani, Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge, Principal Secretary Brijesh Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Milind Mhaiskar, all Divisional Commissioners, Collectors and other concerned officials were present.

Oxygen plants, ventilators, oxygen pipelines, RTPCR labs, Dura/Liquid Oxygen plants should be checked for proper functioning and vaccinations should be reviewed while ensuring that they are functioning properly, information of those who have not been vaccinated and vaccinations should be reviewed. 

Ensure that adequate stocks of vaccines and medicines are available. Asking that the health system should establish a task force and take the guidance of its experts, the Chief Minister also took information about the current status of the Covid Center, Isolation Beds, ICU Beds, Ventilator Beds.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the entire country has bravely and successfully fought the Covid crisis before. Citizens should get checked immediately if they have symptoms like cold, cough, fever. A mask should be used when going to crowded places in the background of upcoming festivals and welcoming the New Year. 

Social media as well as mass media should also take care that wrong news is not spread regarding this new variant so that there is no confusion or panic among the people and rumors are not spread. He also appealed that only official information should be used while disseminating information.

The government system is fully prepared to fight any situation with unity. Machinery, drug stocks, other equipment are available in abundance. So people should not panic. 

On this occasion the Minister of Medical Education Mushrif, Health Minister Dr. Sawant gave information about the preparedness of the health system. To ensure that all the machinery and other systems of the health system are functioning properly. He said that mock drills were conducted from 15th to 17th December 2023 at various places.

At present, 63 thousand isolation beds, 33 thousand oxygen beds, 9 thousand 500 ICU beds and 6 thousand ventilator beds are available in the state. At present, 45 corona patients (Mumbai 27, Pune-8, Thane-8, Kolhapur-1, Raigad-1) have been found in the state, said Mhaiskar at this time.

 Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Principal Secretary and Director General of Directorate General of Information and Public Relations Brijesh Singh said that a public awareness campaign will be implemented regarding the new variant of JN One.
