Pune: Pune’s single-screen theatres are having a hard time competing for Christmas distribution between Raj Kumar Hirani’s Dunki and Prashanth Neel’s Saalar: Part 1-Ceasefire.
Due to the distributors’ demands for ‘exclusive allocation’, the majority of these theatres were compelled to postpone their planned Dunki film shows.
As per information, the majority of the city’s theatres had scheduled screenings of the Shah Rukh Khan film Dunki for Thursday, one day before Saalar’s premiere. However, the film’s scheduled screenings in the single-screen theatres were cancelled.
Dunki’s 12.30 pm show was cancelled at several of Pune’s single-screen theatres, including the well-known Alka Theatre. Alka Theatre official said that the ongoing tussle between distributors is hurting single screens. For the next few days, the Dunki film distributor is seeking all four shows in Alka for their movie. Every show is desired by the Salaar distributor as well. Vasant Theatre officials also shared their frustrations by stating that it is a form of bullying. By the evening, things ought to become clear.
Fans of Shah Rukh Khan who showed up at the theatres were turned away, even those who had made reservations online. An SRK fan, who had booked Dunki film tickets, said that he was informed that the show had been cancelled. He always watches expensive movies on single screens because it’s a fun atmosphere. Reimbursement for the postponed show’s ticket has been promised.
The distributors of both movies are attempting to get their films into additional theatres. Unverified rumours claim that they are attempting to use coercion to convince theatre owners and exhibitors not to screen the competing movie in an effort to tip the scales in their favour.
