On Thursday (25th January), the city announced one death and five new cases of COVID-19. According to officials, this is the second Covid-19 death that has been reported in Pune this year.

The deceased, a 75-year-old man from Vimannagar, passed away at Jehangir Hospital while receiving medical care.

According to reports, Covid-19, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and multi-organ dysfunction were the cause of death.

The patient reported cough, breathlessness and fever on December 29 and tested positive for COVID-19, according to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) health officials.

There are currently 42 active Covid-19 cases in Pune city, according to PMC officials. Of these, four patients are hospitalized and 38 are isolated at home. Not one of the four hospitalized patients is receiving oxygen support. According to officials, 11 patients were also released on Thursday following a successful course of treatment for the infection.

On Thursday, the Pune district reported one death and eight new cases of COVID-19. Of them, three cases were reported in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area, and five new cases were reported by PMC.

In an official statement issued by the health department on Thursday, Maharashtra reported 40 new cases of COVID-19, and 69 patients were cleared of the virus and released from the hospital.
