The first phase of the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Highway, stretching 520 km from Nagpur to Shirdi, was opened to traffic on December 11, 2022.

A crack approximately 40 meters long was observed in the concrete panel at chainage number 443/650 on the section of the highway heading towards Mumbai, near Mouje Fatiyabad in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

At this location, the highway is built on a 3-meter embankment. Initial observations suggest that slight compression at the edge of the embankment caused the surface of the concrete road to crack. The surface of the highway remains in good condition with no risk to traffic. The crack is being immediately filled using specific chemicals (Epoxy Material Shalifix SC 40) for grouting.

The defect liability period for the work extends until June 2026, and the approximately 50-meter-long cracked section of the concrete road will be completely redone at the contractor’s responsibility and expense.
