CRED Jackpot Controversy: Winner’s Rs 3.25 Lakh Prize Cancelled, Insultingly Offered Rs 1,000 Instead
A shocking incident has come to light where CRED, a popular credit card bill payment platform, cancelled a user’s jackpot worth Rs 3.25 lakh citing a “technical glitch”. Aviral Sangal, the winner, took to social media to express his disappointment and tagged CRED’s founder, Kunal Shah.
Sangal had played CRED’s Friday jackpot and won a MacBook, iPad, AirPods Max, and a TUMI bag. However, his excitement was short-lived as CRED asked him to fill out a form with his PAN details to pay the TDS on the jackpot, only to cancel it later.
In a stunning display of insensitivity, CRED offered Sangal a paltry Rs 1,000 as a “goodwill gesture” instead of honoring the prize. This token amount is a mere 0.03% of the original jackpot value, leaving many questioning CRED’s commitment to fairness and transparency.
Sangal declined the offer, demanding that CRED publicly acknowledge the incident and honor the jackpot for all 200 affected users. According to Sangal, CRED informed him that around 200 users won the jackpot due to a bug, but instead of fixing the issue and honoring the winners, the company chose to cancel the entire jackpot.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many users expressing solidarity with Sangal and urging him to take legal action against CRED.
“File a case please, it’ll be fun to see the judgement of court,” commented one user.
“Same happened with me… Just stick to your ground – I need what I have won, nothing else.”
This incident raises serious questions about CRED’s business practices and treatment of customers. The company’s decision to cancel the jackpot and offer a nominal sum instead has left many feeling cheated and disillusioned.
As the controversy gains momentum, CRED’s response will be closely watched. Will they take responsibility for their actions and honor the prizes won by their users, or will they continue to hide behind technical glitches and token gestures?
