Pune Police Crack Down On Cryptocurrency Theft With Share Trading Coach, Five ApprehendedÂ

The incident involved the accused taking the victim in a car to Shikrapur, where they threatened him with a knife, silenced him, and demanded the password for his bitcoins. They then proceeded to transfer the bitcoins from the victim’s mobile into their own account. Chatushrungi police have charged six individuals for intimidating a 26-year-old resident from Bavdhan and forcefully taking his bitcoins valued at around ₹16 lakh. The event occurred between July 22 and July 24 in the Balewadi-Shikrapur region.
The person who filed the complaint is Umesh Hedao, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the accused under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) 310 (2), 140(2), and the Arms Act. One of the accused, identified as Mayur Kailash Amodkar from Jalgaon, is known. However, the police were unable to determine the identities of the other suspects involved.
As per the police report, Hedao is involved in the stock market, and Amodkar along with his partners posed as attendees of a stock market course. They then drove him to Shikrapur, threatened him with a knife, silenced him, and coerced him into sharing his bitcoin password from his phone, subsequently transferring the funds to their account. Afterward, they abandoned him by the roadside and absconded from the scene.
