Haryana: Rising chatter across social platforms recently pushed a 19-minute-34-second clip into the spotlight, sparking widespread curiosity and concern. The video, which shows a young couple in intimate circumstances, spread rapidly at the end of November and quickly triggered debates about how it originated. Some viewers insisted the footage captured private moments without consent, while others suggested the visuals might be digitally altered or entirely artificial. Even now, the identities of the people appearing in the clip remain unknown, and no major news outlet has confirmed the authenticity of the recording.

Speculation deepened when multiple edited versions—circulating under labels such as “Season 2” and “Season 3”—began appearing online, strengthening assumptions that artificial intelligence might have been used to generate portions of the content, as reported by NDTV.

The matter took a serious turn on December 10, when Haryana NCB Cyber Cell officer Amit Yadav issued a public advisory urging people not to forward the clip under any circumstances. Through his message, he clarified the nature of the footage and explained the potential legal consequences of sharing it.

Yadav stated that technical checks revealed the 19-minute viral clip is AI-generated and not an authentic recording of real individuals. He also pointed out that users may visit tools like siteengine.com to determine whether an image or video has been created using artificial intelligence.

According to him, the video contains explicit and objectionable material, making its distribution a punishable act under Indian cyber laws. He cautioned social media users, emphasising that “circulating private or intimate visuals of anyone, even unintentionally, can put you at risk of criminal charges.” Yadav further urged the public to verify the source of such viral content instead of blindly sharing it.

What Laws Apply if Someone Shares the Video?

The Cyber Cell officer outlined the penalties under the Information Technology Act, 2000:

Section 66 (Computer-related offences): Punishable with up to 3 years of imprisonment, a fine up to ₹5 lakh, or both.

Section 67 (Publishing/transmitting obscene material): Punishment includes up to 3 years in jail and a fine of ₹5 lakh.

Section 67A (Publishing/transmitting sexually explicit content): Carries up to 5 years of imprisonment and a ₹10 lakh fine, with repeat offences punishable by up to 7 years.

Summarising the consequences, Yadav added that “offences of this nature can result in penalties reaching ₹2 lakh or imprisonment for as long as three years, depending on the applicable legal provisions.”
