Dancing home guard in Mumbai local train faces consequences as viral video sparks investigation

The Government Railway Police (GRP) Mumbai has responded promptly to a viral video capturing a home guard dancing with a woman aboard a Mumbai local train. The video, initially shared on Instagram and subsequently circulating on various social media platforms, prompted the GRP Mumbai to acknowledge the incident and confirm that appropriate measures have been taken against the involved home guard. The department has also emphasized its commitment to preventing similar incidents in the future.

In the video, the home guard, responsible for patrolling the Mumbai local, can be seen advising the woman to maintain a safe distance from the train’s door. However, the footage takes an unexpected turn as the woman starts dancing on the train, eventually being joined by the home guard.

The video gained traction on social media, prompting the official X handle of the Divisional Railway Manager to tag the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for immediate action. Subsequently, the RPF forwarded the matter to the relevant officers.

Acknowledging the incident, the GRP Mumbai shared on social media, “On 6/12/2023, a video of a home guard dancing in uniform during local train patrolling is going viral. Taking serious notice of the said incident and verifying the truth, appropriate action has been taken against the concerned home guard. We are taking care to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.”
