Pune: There is an increasing demand for a train service connecting Belagavi and Pune. Prakash Hukkeri, the state government’s special representative for Delhi, recently met with Jaya Verma Sinha, the chairperson of the Central Railway Board, in New Delhi.

During the meeting, Hukkeri presented a memorandum underscoring the positive business relations between Belagavi and Pune. Hukkeri stressed the need for enhanced train services between the two cities, given that most of the population currently relies on private buses.

He urged the railway board chairperson to allocate an intercity train service and Vande-Bharat train to better serve the public. Belagavi, located on the border of Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa, is a thriving industrial center experiencing rapid growth.

The district is well-known for its sugar production and is home to over 50 major industries. Additionally, Belagavi is a prominent education hub, attracting students seeking quality education. In the memorandum, Prakash Hukkeri highlighted the importance of the proposed train connecting Belagavi and Pune in fostering socio-economic and educational ties between the two cities and states. He also thanked Sinha for extending the Vande Bharat train service to Belagavi and invited her to the train’s inaugural ceremony.
