‘Dharohar’ event on February 15 in Pune to continue in honor of Ustad Zakir Hussain
Pune, 14 February: ‘Dharohar’ event, organized by ‘Sa’ va ‘Ni’ was orginally planned with Ustad Zakir Hussain and Rahul Sharma(santoor) on Saturday, 15th February. However due to the sudden demise of Ustad Zakir Hussain, the event was about to be canceled. But since Zakir Hussain never liked his events being canceled ‘Sa’ va ‘Ni’ decided to continue with the event as planned on Saturday 15th February at 6:00pm at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch near Swargate.
Ustad Zakir Hussain had planned a concert in Mumbai on 7th December where he intended to perform a fusion with some of India’s finest young musicians like Swaminathan Silva Ganesh (Khanjira); Shravan Samsi (Drums); Krishna Salunkhe (Pakhawaj); and Taka Hiro (Santoor – disciple of Pt. Shivkumar Sharma). His aim was to showcase these talents by sharing the stage with them. Unfortunately, he couldn’t fulfill this wish. To honor his wish, his fellow musician and close associate, Yogesh Samsi, will lead the same young artists selected by Zakir Ji to present the performance as per his expectations. The first segment of the ‘Dharohar’ event will feature a ‘Percussion Ensemble’ by Yogesh Samsi and these young musicians. The second segment will have a performance by Rahul Sharma and Ojas Adhiya (Tabla accompaniment).
For this program, students will receive a 50% discount on tickets, which are available at Bal Gandharva and on the event day at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch, as informed by Surendra Mohite, Founder of ‘Sa’ va ‘Ni’.
