Dhurandhar 2 OTT Release Update: Legal Dispute Hints at Streaming Window, Ranveer Singh Starrer Likely to Arrive on JioHotstar After Theatrical Run
The buzz around Ranveer Singh’s high-octane spy thriller Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues to intensify, not just because of its strong box office performance but also due to growing curiosity over its OTT release. As the film completes a long theatrical run, fresh developments from an ongoing legal dispute have indirectly pointed toward its digital streaming timeline and platform.
OTT release window linked to court proceedings
The film has been performing strongly in cinemas for several weeks and is expected to complete eight weeks in theatres by May 14, 2026. During recent court proceedings related to a copyright dispute, the makers informed the Delhi High Court that the movie is unlikely to arrive on OTT before mid-May, aligning with the standard 8–10 week theatrical-to-digital window followed by most big releases.

Industry patterns suggest that the streaming release is likely to follow shortly after this period, depending on final agreements and legal clearances.
Legal controversy over iconic song remix
The film became embroiled in controversy after featuring a reworked version of the classic track “Tirchi Topiwale” in its climax sequence. The remixed version, titled “Rang De Laal,” was composed by Shashwat Sachdev.
Filmmaker Rajiv Rai, the original creator of Tridev, filed a lawsuit alleging that the song was used without proper authorization. Although the Delhi High Court initially suggested mediation between both parties, the process ultimately failed. The matter returned to court, where arguments continued over interim relief and rights ownership.
Music rights holder T-Series (Super Cassettes) opposed the plea for immediate relief during the hearing, while production house B62 Films maintained that the film’s theatrical run had already been completed or was nearing completion.
OTT deal and streaming platform
Reports indicate that Dhurandhar 2 has secured a massive ₹155 crore digital streaming deal, making it one of the biggest OTT acquisitions for a Hindi film in recent times.
Unlike its predecessor, which streamed on Netflix, the sequel is expected to premiere on JioHotstar, marking a shift in digital partnership.
The first installment of the franchise had arrived on Netflix roughly eight weeks after its theatrical release, setting a precedent for the current timeline, though the sequel’s rollout appears slightly more delayed due to legal complications and contractual factors.
Cast, runtime, and story details
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel continues the intense espionage narrative centered on Ranveer Singh’s character, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, also known as Hamza Ali Manzari, an undercover operative operating in Pakistan.
The film features a prominent ensemble cast including:
- Ranveer Singh
- Sanjay Dutt
- Arjun Rampal
- R. Madhavan
- Sara Arjun
- Rakesh Bedi
With an approximate runtime of 3 hours and 55 minutes (235 minutes), the film ranks among the longest Indian theatrical releases in recent years.
Multilingual OTT rollout expected
When it eventually arrives on streaming, Dhurandhar 2 is expected to release in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, aiming for a wide pan-India digital audience.
Box office success continues alongside controversy
Despite the legal noise, the film has maintained strong momentum at the box office and remains one of the highest-grossing Indian releases of 2026 so far. Its performance, combined with ongoing controversy and anticipation around its digital debut, has kept it firmly in the spotlight.
While the official OTT release date is still under wraps, current indicators suggest a streaming premiere shortly after mid-May, once its theatrical window concludes and legal matters settle.
