Pune News: Undri Residents Unite For Tree Plantation And Clean-Up Drive At Autadewadi Lake
Pune, June 28, 2026: In a commendable display of community participation towards environmental conservation, the Godrej Prana Green Group organised a tree plantation and lake clean-up drive at Autadewadi Lake in Undri on Sunday June 28, 2026.
The initiative was conducted under the guidance of corporator Nivrutti Bandal and coordinated by social worker Sachin Punekar.

The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents of all age groups, including children, women, senior citizens and youth, who joined hands to clean the lake surroundings and enhance the area’s green cover. Volunteers collected plastic bags, bottles, disposable cups, food wrappers and other non-biodegradable waste scattered around the lake, helping restore the natural environment and prevent further pollution of the waterbody.
Following the clean-up activity, participants planted saplings around the lake to improve biodiversity, strengthen the ecological balance and contribute to a greener urban landscape. Organisers highlighted the importance of preserving Pune’s lakes, which continue to face challenges from plastic pollution, indiscriminate waste dumping and rapid urbanisation.

Addressing the gathering, social worker Sachin Punekar said, “Autadewadi Lake is a valuable environmental asset for our locality. Protecting it is a shared responsibility, and every tree planted today is an investment in a cleaner and greener future.”
Corporator Nivrutti Anna Bandal emphasised the role of citizens in environmental protection. “Urban development and environmental conservation must progress together. Active public participation is the key to preserving our lakes and green spaces for future generations,” he said.
Retired Army officer Col. Randhir Satish praised the community’s collective efforts, stating that environmental conservation becomes a movement when people of all generations work together. He encouraged similar initiatives across Pune to promote sustainable living and civic responsibility.

The organisers also stressed that protecting urban water bodies requires sustained public involvement alongside the efforts of civic authorities. Participants urged residents to avoid littering, reduce the use of single-use plastics and take collective responsibility for safeguarding public spaces.
The initiative concluded with a pledge by volunteers to continue monitoring the planted saplings and organise periodic clean-up drives to ensure the long-term preservation of Autadewadi Lake. The campaign served as a reminder that community-led initiatives can play a significant role in protecting natural resources and building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Pune.
