Pune residents can now dial the new number for any kind of emergency.

Pune police have shared a single emergency new helpline number – 112, as a measure to help citizens and in turn, bring down the alarming incidences of crime in the city.

The police personnel rush to the spot for help and there is lot of attention on the police response time. The new number has been introduced to make things simpler. Pune residents can now dial the new number for any kind of emergency.

The helpline is not limited to just Pune district, revealed Pune police on twitter.

The helpline number for police, ambulance, fire brigade and women have been merged to provide a unified facility. If the number is dialed with GPS on, the person on the line will come to know from where the call has been made.

On Friday the Pune city police tweeted, “Remember, soon, there will be only one emergency number i.e. 112. All other numbers 100, 101 (fire brigade) and 1091 (women’s helpline) will be integrated in this number.”

Pune city Police commissioner Amitabh Gupta welcomed such move and said, that it would benefit the citizens and help would reach them sooner.

C P Gupta, designation, said that response time has improved with the help of state-of-the-art technology and advanced software.
