Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan faced numerous rumors surrounding their wedding. The couple, who tied the knot in 2007, dealt with claims that Aishwarya was a bad omen for the Bachchan family and even that she had married a tree. While these rumors circulated widely, Amitabh Bachchan addressed them in an interview a few months later. In June 2007, during a conversation with Mid-Day, Amitabh expressed his frustration and disappointment regarding the rampant speculation. He stated, “This is very insensitive. First, there were claims about her being a manglik before marriage, then the tree marriage rumors, and now this. Every day brings a new prediction about her, like that the father-in-law of whoever she marries will die. Aishwarya is not unlucky for us! Whatever is destined will happen,” he clarified to the publication.

Amitabh Bachchan expressed his frustration about the media’s constant speculation regarding Aishwarya Rai and her family. He pointed out that while the media freely writes and speculates, they often overlook the emotional impact on Aishwarya and her loved ones. He lamented that the rumors have persisted, attributing various events to her presence. Amitabh emphasized that marriage is fundamentally about the connection and belief between two individuals, rather than being based on scientific or ritualistic measures. He firmly stated, “This is my wife and she will be my wife for the rest of my life. That’s it.”
