Did You Know? How Much Does Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Earn Monthly – and Annually?
CMs across India earn differently as salaries are state-regulated. Here’s how much Maharashtra’s Chief Minister and others earn.
Have you ever wondered how much a Chief Minister earns each year? While the role carries significant responsibility, the salary structure varies widely across Indian states—each state government has the right to decide the pay for its elected leader. With 28 states and 8 union territories in the country, the Chief Minister’s salary is neither uniform nor centrally regulated.
In Maharashtra, the salary of the Chief Minister is governed by the Chief Minister and Ministers’ Salaries and Allowances Act, 1956, which aligns their compensation with that of the Chief Secretary’s basic pay and dearness allowance. Despite Maharashtra being the richest state in India and leading in per capita income, its Chief Minister is not the highest-paid in the country.
Devendra Fadnavis, the current Chief Minister of Maharashtra, receives a monthly salary of ₹3.4 lakh, which totals to ₹40.8 lakh annually. This amount includes the basic salary along with various allowances. In addition, the CM is entitled to an annual allowance of ₹10 lakh to cover official expenses. A monthly allocation of ₹25,000 is also made for the Chief Minister’s personal assistant.
Interestingly, Maharashtra ranks fourth in the list of highest-paid Chief Ministers in India. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy currently tops the list with a monthly salary of ₹4.2 lakh, making him the highest-paid CM in the country.
All Maharashtra ministers, including the Deputy Chief Ministers, Cabinet Ministers, and Ministers of State, receive a uniform monthly salary of ₹2.32 lakh, regardless of their rank.
Ministers and their families are also entitled to free accommodation in state government-owned properties, as well as free medical treatment at state government hospitals. This ensures that ministers and their families receive comprehensive care and support throughout their tenure.
