DigiYatra – Facial Recognition Technology begins at Pune airport

The much-awaited DigiYatra started from Airport Authority of India’s Kolkata, Pune and Vijayawada airports from yesterday, March 31. This new facility at the airports will now provide passengers with a contactless, paperless and hassle-free experience.

The DigiYatra E-Gates are installed at Departure gate D1 & D2, Domestic Security Check & Boarding Gate 8 & 9. Passengers travelling by Air India, IndiGo6E , GoFirstairways, Air Vistara & Spicejet can now use the facility at Pune Airport. 

The facility was inaugurated by Jose Mohan, IPS, IG-CISF; Santosh Dhoke, Airport Director-Pune; Gagan Malik, GM(Engg-Project); Santosh Suman, CASO-CISF, Pune and officials of AAI, Airlines, CISF & other stakeholders.

Passengers travelling from Pune Airport can now use DigiYatra from 31st March 2023 onwards.

Digi Yatra is an initiative of the Ministry of Civil Aviation for Biometric Boarding System using Facial Recognition Technology.

Passengers will no longer need to produce a physical ID card, as their facial features will be captured and verified through the DigiYatra system. The introduction of this system is a significant step towards a more secure, efficient, and technology-driven airport experience for passengers.
