Minister for state home affairs Dilip Walse Patil visited the Yerwada Central Jail on July 17, 2021. He promised to provide funds for the construction of new building at the Jail. He also informed that the new multi storey building in Mumbai shall be built on the lines of Chicago.
The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary (home ministry), Anand Limaye, DGP Sanjay Pandey, Additional DGP Sunil Ramanand, Deputy Jail Superintendent Yogesh Desai, Superintendent U T Pawar.
While interacting with the officials he also said that a separate facility shall be built for men at Aatpadi. Similar such facility shall be built for female prisoners. Also, to expedite the court proceedings, a video conferencing facility shall be created for prisoners, where they can remain present online and attend their hearing.
