A cryptic prescription from a Madhya Pradesh hospital baffles everyone, prompting action from authorities after it spreads across social media.

A doctor’s prescription from Satna, Madhya Pradesh, has become the subject of widespread confusion and amusement after going viral on social media. The incident occurred at the Nagaud Community Health Center, where a patient named Arvind Kumar Sen sought treatment for body pain and fever. However, what followed was far from routine.

After a consultation, the duty doctor handed Sen a prescription so cryptic that it left not just the patient scratching his head, but even medical store owners were baffled. In fact, the prescription was so illegible that other doctors struggled to decipher it, further fueling the curiosity surrounding it. The viral prescription has since become a topic of discussion and humor across social media platforms.

The prescription in question was written during an OPD visit, and when the patient presented it to the local pharmacy, the store owner was shocked by its incomprehensibility. The confusion led to the issue gaining widespread attention, with many on social media sharing their own stories of illegible prescriptions.

Satna’s Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) has since taken note of the situation. The incident has raised concerns about medical clarity and patient care, prompting the CMHO to issue a notice to the doctor responsible for the cryptic prescription.

Chief Medical and Health Officer of the district, L K Tiwari, was talked to on this matter , he said, “The case of Dr. Amit Soni posted in the Civil Hospital of Nagaud has come to our notice. In which such medicine has been written in the prescription, which cannot be read by anyone.” He said, “We have issued a notice against Dr. Amit Soni on this matter and sought a reply from him. After receiving the reply, we will take action on the matter. Apart from this, the matter of running a private clinic or prescribing medicines of a private medical store is a different matter, action will be taken after investigation on this too.”

The doctor has been asked to explain the situation, and an inquiry is expected to follow.

This incident sheds light on a long-standing issue with illegible handwriting on prescriptions, which often leads to confusion for patients and pharmacists alike. With this latest case drawing widespread attention, it has also highlighted the need for clear communication in healthcare practices to ensure better service for patients.
