An elderly shopkeeper from Pune has gone viral after urging young people to choose business over job hunting, with his powerful message resonating online.

A video of an elderly businessman from Pune has captured widespread attention after he shared a strong message for today’s youth: “Don’t do jobs, create jobs.”

The clip, reportedly shot at an 80-year-old shop in Kasba Peth, shows the grandfather speaking candidly about unemployment and the future of young people. At a time when many educated youth struggle to find stable work, his words have struck a chord across social media.

According to the viral video, the elderly man has been running the family shop for the last 50 to 60 years. He says that instead of spending years only searching for employment, young people should consider starting businesses and creating opportunities for others.

He also shared his personal journey, saying that while managing the shop, he completed higher education and pursued multiple courses. He reportedly became a graduate, studied law for a year, completed BSc studies, and even trained in biodiesel production.

Despite these academic achievements, he said the practical lessons learned from running a business were more valuable than classroom education. According to him, the real-world knowledge gained through trade and customer dealings cannot be taught in schools or colleges.

The grandfather also expressed disappointment that younger family members are employed elsewhere and are not interested in continuing the traditional shop business.

The video has reportedly crossed millions of views online, with users praising his discipline, work ethic and sharp thinking even at an advanced age. Many called his advice realistic in today’s competitive economy, while others said entrepreneurship also comes with its own struggles and risks.

The viral moment has reopened an important debate around employment versus entrepreneurship, especially among educated youth facing limited job opportunities.

For many viewers, however, one message stood out clearly — age may slow the body, but experience can still guide a generation.
